There are three levels of jazz vocal ensembles at the Frost School of Music. They feature a remarkable variety of eras and styles. Directed by Kate Reid, the Jazz Vocal Ensembles at the Frost School of Music study and perform vocal jazz music ranging from the ever-popular Hi-Lo’s, Lambert, Hendrix & Ross, Manhattan Transfer, New York Voices, and Swingle Singers to contemporary new works by Frost faculty and students.  The Jazz Vocal Ensemble 1, affectionately called JV-1, has earned multiple DownBeat Collegiate Awards and performs throughout South Florida and at regional and national conferences. Two additional ensembles, JV-2 and JV-3, also perform regularly. Alumni of the program enjoy active careers performing and directing vocal jazz ensembles throughout the world.
